WHO IS TROBIZ? TRO
is a producer who resides in Halifax NS where he continues to create all his music. He has over 400 pieces of music to date.
WHAT ARE HIS MUSIC INFLUENCES? TRO is the son of two respected musicians Yvonne "Muzzy" and Coleman Howe. After years of hearing in house band practices and live music TRO developed an ear for beats that he didn’t know he had. He spent much of his life in a neighborhood rich in culture "Cote Des Neiges" otherwise called "Uptown" (Montreal). The streets pumped out Reggae, Calypso, Jazz, Soul, Hip Hop, Chinese, Greek and Italian music to name a few. This has left TRO an open ear to all music, which he incorporates into his own. He enjoys artist from the old school as well as some Hip Hop producers today.
TROBIZ HAS PRODUCED some of the strongest artists in Canada most from Nova Scotia. Artist include Muzzy and the Rhythym Network, Shy Love, Universal Soul, Kyra Smith (now in New York), Kalib Symonds, Cindy Cain, Dammien Alexandre, Classified ( Luke Boyd), KL (Marvin Upshaw), Tara Chase, Ground Squad, Papa Grand, Jay Bru, and 365 to name a few. He has also produced for a long list of artists outside of Nova Scotia and Canada. His music is recognized all over the world including Switzerland, Amsterdam, France, US, and even Taiwan.
TRO HAS PERFORMED in Montreal, Ottawa, Halifax, PEI, New Brunswick, Cape Breton, and now looks to go out west and down south. He has shared the stage with DJ Jazzy Jeff, Kardinal Offishal (of Toronto), Tara Chase, Butta Babees, Misery, 4 in da Mornin’ (all from Montreal), Dalexand (Philadelphia), Choclair, Saukrates, Thrust, Solitaire, Ground Squad, & Shy Luv to name a few.
IS HE MUSICALLY CORRECT? The music is made up of his keyboard work, samples and live instruments. He has produced 98% of his own material. He maintains his raw sample sound or a clean sound depending on the track and artist.
RECENTLY, TRO has been heard all around the world from the U.S. to Taiwan. The Amp video by Mack Dawg has opened up his sales down south and overseas. Also, he was nominated for the ECMA for his appearance on the 44N 63W East Coast Compilation distributed in Canada. This last year Trobiz has produced Universal Soul's music for "All Night" and the latest single "Back & Forth" which features Amelia Curan. Both of these tracks have been awarded Videofact grants for Universal Soul and are prooven to be their "party tracks". Trobiz has also produced music for The Learning Channel (TLC) and CTV on a series from Exhibit A called "The Art of Forensic Science". You can also hear his instrumentals on CBC’s Street Cents which airs across the country. Trobiz & Dalexand's "All Right" has also been awarded "Budweiser's Song Of The Week" two weeks consecutive for Los Angeles urban music station The Download. His video Neva Satisfied has received good rotation on Much Music and Much Vibe. Trobiz has also done extensive work for Canadian Idol contestants Jordan Croucher and Kalib Symmonds. His recording "Love Song" has appeared on the East Coast Music Awards CD sponsored by Keith's (over 20 000 copies thus far!) Trobiz has also developed the "Freestyle Fight Club Competitions" for up and coming artists in Nova Scotia. Trobiz was the key promoter of the "Sister Sledge We Are Family Tour" which stopped in Halifax December of 2004.
